Warranty

Too often warranty certificates are extremely involved and complicated with technical jargon, and you know that in the two pages of small print, the supplier has somehow excused themselves from all responsibility and liability. The Door Keeper believes that a warranty must be easy to read and understand and offer genuine assurances while clearly outlining the builders and customers responsibilities and the supplier’s obligations. Basic properties of timber must be understood in relation to any solid timber joinery warranty. Timber in its live condition, as a tree, has very few problems in relation to contrasting and difficult weather conditions. After cutting, even as logs with bark and outer protective layers, timber is rarely effected by weather over reasonable periods of time. Once a timber log is processed, by sawing, machining, and sanding, the porous grain of timber is exposed, especially the end grain. This exposure makes the timber susceptible to moisture absorption, and can cause a variety of problems, Including bowing, warping and splitting. The Door Keepers quality control on both Aristocrat Doors, custom made joinery and pre hung frames, is to select timber with good joinery characteristics and a high level of suitability. The timber used is kiln dried, and all doors are sealed, top and bottom to give as much protection as possible, before polishing or painting. The standard Door Keeper warranty applies to all jobs sold as first grade. Doors that have failed our stringent quality control process and are still very suitable for the majority of circumstances, will be reduced in price, and specific problems indentified. These specials, either as doors, pre hung systems or joinery carry no warranty.

Specific and Detailed Warranty Conditions

·         leaning against fresh plaster

·         laying flat on new or damp concrete

·         exposed to sun and weather

Fitting

Defects

A warp over 5mm on a 2040 x 820 door is considered a defect (larger doors have greater tolerances).  Providing the storage, hanging and painting conditions have been adhered to the door will be replaced. As timber is a natural product, colour, grain pattern and texture are not considered defects.

Warranty for warp does not include doors painted in dark colours, contrasting colours on faces, or un-natural temperature changes between both faces.

Essential

To give your timber door the best chance of longevity and to avoid loosing your warranty cover

  • Report any faults before hanging or modifying doors.
  • Seal and paint all faces and edges at time of hanging
  • Give as much overhead protection as possible
  • Avoid painting in dark covers or allow unnatural temperature variations between both faces.

Claims

It will be the decision of the supplier in relation to any warranty claim to either repair or replace the products.

Claims will be answered within seven days, and arrangements suitable to both parties will be decided upon.
